Our April 2 Wisdom Circle retreat was fantastic. Ten people, aged 54 – 74, male and female, gathered at St. Brigid’s Villa, at the Ignatius Retreat Centre.
One of the participants said:
“Today has given me a sense of a whole new world widening for me in retirement. Aging is hard work with no return. But sage-ing is hard work with a great return.”
Using a workbook as a guide, the group discussed aging—fears and concerns—and found ways “This important seminar…helps us look into the future with a fresh hope.” Participants noted that the day had value by being with others at similar stages of life, to hear some of their stories and how they are facing change and aging.
Other comments included:
“I want to live expansively, generously, and grow fully, so all this content was helpful.”
“If you have an opportunity, GO TO IT!! I’ve taken some of your cards to give to people who are wanting to know more about aging “wisely & well.”
“Good course for those who have a need for fulfillment into retirement.”
“I learned so much from the life experiences of other participants and our leader.Would recommend to others.”
Participants commented they took away:
“The importance of Meaning, purpose, direction, and “Who am I, now?…[and]How can I start from here.” [Learning about aging as] opportunity not crisis.”
“Conscious aging will be a process that will take time, patience, and be a wonderful opportunity to explore and appreciate the miracles and mystery of life.”
“ I feel energized and have a renewed sense that I’m on the path to fulfillment.”
“Aging [at midlife and beyond] can be a time of positive growth.”
Aging is not something to fear and hearing the uniqueness of one’s story and yet the common
struggles we face gives a sense of peace and a new way to think of growing older.
